Words are the thread that holds the world together, that ties us to one another. They stitch meaning into the most simple of moments, opening our eyes wider to the wonders around us. A well-chosen word can both ground us and give us wings to fly.

My journey to discover the perfect words to describe our common human experience has led me across horizons and down lonely roads. I’ve found connection and unearthed inspiration in places I never imagined.

Mostly, I write because it’s the only way I know to make sense of what I see around me. But I also write because I believe that words have the power to heal us, to inspire us, and to change us. So, consider this an invitation. Look around. Linger. And let yourself be transformed.

As Long As There Are Stars

There was a blackhole where the door ought to have been. I was being pulled towards it, stretched and torn apart with the slowness of eternity. I’d been planning a nice morning in some hipster cafe with an iced chai latte and annoyingly upbeat music. I’d been planning to save the world. I’d been planning to go back to Tynon and visit my mother. I remembered, in those five seconds of eternity, that my mother was dead. And that a blackhole, here of all places, must mean that Tynon was already a mass of particles somewhere beyond the event horizon. Soon we’d all be together, all finally see if there was something beyond death…

Jungle

There is something that I love
about a city,
And...
The way the hungry growl of buses snatches away any semblance of peace,
And in the parks,
The pigeons swoop and soar like pterodactyls.

The earth fights back;
Our bones are gold glitter and dust,
Formed of the stars above us and the Dirt deep deep beneath our feet.

Frail, fragile, like those silver cobwebs.
One wrong wind and...

They say our limits are the path we are to walk upon,
And this dependence on
The God who rides upon the clouds,
Is altogether purposeful.

ABOUT ME

I’m a dreamer and a wanderer. Words have been the faithful friends that journey with me and give meaning to the moments and mishaps that stumble across my path.

Most recently, my path has led me to the noisy streets and wild steppes of Kazakhstan. My last six years in this fascinating country have deeply inspired me and set me writing an absurd array of fiction and poetry.

I have authored four novels in the last few years, and hope the world will get to meet them in the near future! In the meantime, I’m continuing to edit and write, and am keeping busy as an English teacher and freelance writer.
